چکیده

Anionic polymerization has been used as a technique for the synthesis of five-block copolymers of polystyrene (PS), polyisoprene (PI), and poly(ethy1ene oxide) (PEO). Two types of such polymers, PEO-PI-PS-PI-PEO and PEO-PS-PI-PS-PEO with varying PEO block length, have been prepared, using potassium naphthalene as the initiator and tetrahydrofuran as the solvent. The polymers were purified by extraction with ethyl acetate, diethyl ether, and water. After the additiowof each monomer, a sample from the living polymer solution was taken and analyzed by spectroscopy (infrared (IR) and proton magnetic resonance (PMR)), osmometry, and gel-permeation chromatography (GPC) to obtain information about composition, molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution of the intermediate polymers. The five-block copolymers have also been characterized by the same techniques and by elemental analysis.

Introducing an amine functionality at the block junction of amphiphilic block copolymers by anionic polymerization strategies.

A series of block copolymers bearing a single amino in-chain functionality was synthesized via anionic polymerization of styrene and ethylene oxide. By means of both a conventional and a continuous setup, living polystyrene was quantitatively end functionalized with an oxirane (DBAG) prior to the polymerization of the poly(ethylene oxide) segment. The in-chain amine was conjugated with a fluore...

Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Stability Study of Styrene-based Ionomers I) Programmed Heating Experiments (10 oC/min to 500 oC)

Ionomers are generally described by copolymers having either acrylic or methacylic acid as one component and the other component is mostly either ethylene or styrene. The objective of this research was to study the thermal behaviour and stability of ionomers of styrene with some alkali metal acrylates. These materials have been synthesized by neutralization of the respective copoly...

4-ChloroMethyl Styrene (CMS) was copolymerized with different monomers such as Methyl MethAcrylate (MMA), Methyl Acrylate (MA), 2-EthylHexyl Acrylate (EHA) by free radical polymerization method at 70 ±1°C using a,a'-Azobis(IsoButyroNitrile) (AIBN) as an initiator. The copolymer compositions were obtained using related 1HNMR spectra and the poly...

Synthesis of new organolanthanide complexes and their use as novel catalysts for polymerization and copolymerization of olefins

The replacement of one of the two C5Me5 ligands in the samarocene(II) complex (C5Me5)2Sm(thf)2 with a monodentate anionic ligand such as OAr, SAr, NR1R2, or CH(SiMe3)2 gave a unique catalytic system, which can not only polymerize styrene and ethylene, but also copolymerize them into block styrene–ethylene copolymers under the presence of both monomers. On the other hand, the addition of an appr...
